AERF

The Arab Electricity Regulators Forum (AERF) is a consultative platform that brings together regulatory agencies and authorities responsible for electricity sector regulation and restructuring in Arab countries. The forum was established in 2009 with the participation of several electricity regulators from the Arab region, including Algeria.

This regional organization aims to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences among electricity regulators in the Arab world. The forum undertakes various initiatives to:

  • Promote effective regulatory policies.
  • Facilitate harmonization of legislation among member countries.
  • Organize conferences and seminars to encourage knowledge-sharing.
  • Enhance the capacity of electricity regulators and industry specialists.

The AERF General Assembly meets at least once a year.

ERRA

The Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) is a non-profit organization that brings together energy regulators from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North America, and South America.

ERRA has members from 39 countries, including 33 full members and 10 associate members.

The main objectives of ERRA are to:

  • Improve energy regulation in member countries.
  • Enhance cooperation between regulators.
  • Facilitate the exchange of information, research, and experiences among members.
  • Provide better access to global regulatory insights.

The ERRA General Assembly meets at least once a year.

MEDREG

The Mediterranean Energy Regulators Association (MEDREG) brings together 27 energy regulators from 22 countries across the northern, southern, and eastern Mediterranean, including the European Union (EU), the Balkans, and the MENA region.

L’objectif principal de l’Association est la promotion d’un cadre juridique et réglementaire transparent, stable et harmonisé, dans la région méditerranéenne, favorisant les investissements dans les infrastructures, la protection des consommateurs et une coopération énergétique renforcée.

MEDREG’s primary objective is to promote a transparent, stable, and harmonized legal and regulatory framework in the Mediterranean region. This framework aims to:

  • Encourage investment in energy infrastructure.
  • Protect consumers.
  • Strengthen regional energy cooperation.

Following a bottom-up approach, MEDREG serves as a collaborative platform that enables its members to:

  • Exchange technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Support each other in enhancing regulatory capacity.

The MEDREG General Assembly meets twice a year.
